Here's an image that says it all, as far as I am concerned. I was reminded today that both I and anyone with an opposing viewpoint have a Constitutional Right of Free Speech. Here's my expression of it:
Prop 102 simply secures the definition of marriage through an Arizona constitutional amendment. "Only a union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as a marriage in this state." 20 simple and clear words that define marriage.
One Man. One Woman. Prop 102. That's Marriage.
I realize this may sound arrogant and I hope it doesn't, but I'm sure glad I live in a part of the country where gay marriage has already been banned. Of course between the courts and the gays, that may not last, but we definitely voted in favor of the man/woman marriage only. Good luck in AZ, CA and where else it's on the ballot. Strange times is it not that such a law must be passed.
ReplyDeleteFlorida is the third state voting on this.
ReplyDeleteAlthough in Arizona we already have passed a state law--through a vote of the people--that marriage is a union between one man and one woman, the incidents in Massachusetts and California of judges un-Constitutionally and unrighteously overturning this law and making a new law of their own, was the impetus for putting it on the ballot again. This time, the proposition is to amend the Arizona Constitution so no judges can come in here and make law on their own about marriage.
Orson Scott Card had a wonderful article about this in the meridian magazine on Friday. More people need to read it.
ReplyDeleteMore of us need to be vocal about our feelings, not hiding under a rock. And yet I deal with it first hand with my daughter. I will vote yes on 102 tomorrow. But I still love her in spite of her choices.
