I Don't Understand

By Stacy Johnson

I feel like I’m the opposite of that phrase, “If you want something done, ask a busy person” lately. Yes, I do have “stuff” that needs to get done and most people would say I run around like a lady with her hair on fire but the truth is that I must have many things on the agenda in order to keep me in line with what I want to get done or else I slack on the few things that “need” to get accomplished.

My scout calling and booster club responsibilities are under control for the time being, my house stays fairly clean now that the kids are back in school, and the cheer squad I coach only practices twice a week for an hour each time. My husband coaches during the same time and same location as my girl’s cheer practice so I don’t even have to be there and I’m just biding my time while I wait for my missionary son to get home from his mission. My adult daughter and the two high schoolers get themselves where they need to be without much effort from me and I even watched two hours’ worth of television twice in the last few weeks which is more than I have watched in the last six months put together.

So why is it that when I have relatively “nothing” to do that I can’t remember to write a simple blog post every other week?  I went looking for answers; I checked pinterest to see if there were any organization suggestions there, then I asked all my friends on Facebook for their thoughts on the subject. I posted a picture on my Instagram account to see if anyone else had any idea what my problem was and I tweeted about my situation to see if any of my followers could identify with my problem. I read several blogs and articles on this topic and I still have no answers. I’m in a quandary as to what the problem really is, the underlying reason why I can’t seem to get things done around here.

I suppose I’ll just have to keep checking all my accounts to see if anyone can figure it out. In the meantime, I’m going to go watch another movie since I have two more weeks before my next blog post is due.

  1. I would say you are probably either in the calm before the storm or in the eye of the storm...something is a coming...I feel it in my bones.

Honestly...as you know though, I'm in the exact same boat. I think the juggling one ball just doesn't hold as much appeal for us as the multiple balls we've been juggling for so long.

Perhaps a new system for accountability? Personal competition? Hmmm....I'll keep thinking about this. We'll discuss it at some point in the future.
