Some of my favorite columnists reserve one column every year or two for reflections. Since my house building is about all that's on my mind now, here's a few of my thoughts.
Why did the contractor only budget 2500 bucks for 67 square feet of granite countertop when that is obviously not enough? And now thinks we should make up the difference?
How many times in the past 2 months have I heard, you'll be in the house next week?
Is it worth my dad's health to argue with him over the floor and wall color? We chose green based on what the floor was supposed to look like. Now the floor looks more gray than green which is fine except now I want blue walls which I had from the beginning.
How could anyone mistake beige for cream? Or paint a house the old flesh colored crayola color? And think it's peach???!!!
Why did I ever think it was my house when it totally reflects my dad's personality and tastes even down to the furniture choices?
And why did I ever agree to living in a cramped camper trailer with a dad and 3 dogs for over six months?
I plead insanity. All I ever wanted was a condo on the beach. Only now I'm thinking renting a condo on the beach for a year or two...with my 3 dogs and a complete stranger so I do have someone to talk too.
It sounds like you are having quite the experience, Terri! And the color thing...I requested a white house with blue trim when we purchased a new home in Las Vegas years ago. Imagine my surprise when I arrived at the house for a walk through and it was mustard yellow. Ugh!

Your post gave me food for thought . . . we've been considering adding a family room and another bathroom. Or moving. Leaning more towards moving now!
